A DELEGATION FROM MALAYSIA PUTRA UNIVERSITY HALAL PRODUCTS INSTITUTE VISITED GİMDES!

Dr. Amalia Mohd Hashim, director of the Halal Science Research Laboratory from the Halal Products Institute of Malaysia Putra University, and her assistant visited GIMDES.

First of all, Ms. Amalia talked about their work and stated that she wanted to cooperate with GIMDES and offered suggestions about the areas in which these collaborations could be established.
She explained that, as the Halal Science Research Laboratory, they undertake the laboratory research of JAKIM, the state halal certification institution in Malaysia, carry out R&D studies in the laboratory field and discover new tests, and also organize online and face-to-face seminars for the academy and the public within the scope of their awareness-raising efforts.

Our guests explained the analysis methods they applied in their laboratories using Microbiological, Chemical, Material and Artificial Intelligence and the new test methods they developed as a result of R&D.
They announced that they have collaborations with MYHAC and Putra University in Malaysia, Kazan University in Russia, and Taibah University in Saudi Arabia, both in terms of their analyzes and by sharing their knowledge and experience in a seminar.

At the end of the presentation in which they explained their activities, they expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to meet with GIMDES and renewed their request for cooperation.

GİMDES President Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi Büyüközer thanked our guests for their valuable presentations and expressed his regret that we did not recognize their institution even though we have common ties with JAKIM for more than 20 years.

Our president stated that his presentations summarized the work done by GIMDES since the moment it was established, and that our guests reminded us of similar work carried out by GIMDES while explaining their work.
He explained how the Halal and Tayyib slaughtering processes are carried out, that a certificate is never issued before the analysis reports are received, that they work with 10 different laboratories to obtain definitive results, and that GİMDES has started to establish its own laboratory. He used “Although Halal and Tayyib research is new in Türkiye, there is no end to the knowledge. Therefore, we must do beneficial things for the ummah, all together, using all our means.” expressions.

Information was given about the importance of sectarian differences in certification and that certification studies were carried out by paying attention to this. Our guests were very surprised by this issue. They stated that they heard about it for the first time and that they appreciated the sensitive practices of GİMDES. Our president explained that even if all universities came together, they could not meet the needs of Muslims, and that this job is the job of Muslims who not only know their job but also live Islam fully. He explained that Dar’ul Halal Madrasah, which was established in this context, raised well-equipped Muslim individuals with the two-pronged education method and had its first graduates this year.

In response to their questions about whether all chocolates in Türkiye are certified, we explained that GİMDES only inspects institutions that apply to it and request certification, that we are not guarantors because other institutions are not inspected, and that we do not comment as we do not have definitive information on whether the production is halal or not.

In response to their questions about logo usage, we stated that we encourage our certified companies to use logos, but that there are companies that do not use them because there is no obligation in this regard, so they can check them through www.gimdes.com and the “Helal Gıda” application.

When Ms. Amalia asked our president for advice on her new work, she gave the following special advice, which if made into the basic principle of life, will lead to the happiness of both worlds: “The Quran is our main book. The sunnah of our Prophet is our second source. “We must obtain the sciences created by Allah Almighty from the right sources and use technology in accordance with Islam.”

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was made between GİMDES and the Malaysian Halal Science Research Laboratory to communicate in order to establish future collaborations. The meeting was concluded by exchanging gifts with our guests.
