WE ARE EXPERIENCING A GLOBAL CALAMITY!
Allah (SWT) makes his servants live in fear and worry in their homelands, where once they were living calmly. Would that be another thing than a global calamity?
Do we not read the calamities that have come upon to various tribes at various times in history that are described in our Holy Qur’an? The important thing is to take lessons from these calamities and get acquit ourselves well.
“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,” (Al-Baqarah, 155)
“And when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We saved those who had forbidden evil and seized those who wronged, with a wretched punishment, because they were defiantly disobeying.” (Al-A’raf, 165)
“So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people.” (Al-A’raf, 133)
What is a virus?
A virus is an inanimate parasite that needs plants, animals, or bacteria to survive. They are inanimate because they lack internal activity (metabolism), which allows them to maintain the body structure (organization), which is seen as the necessity of life. Viruses consist of a genetic material (RNA or DNA) trapped inside a protein armor that is outside the structure they infect. When they infect a structure, their protein armor disintegrates and consists of DNA / RNA. They are categorized as inanimate because they do not meet the organization and internal activity criteria simultaneously and constantly; however, they are considered by many as “lifeless on the verge of life”.
Viruses have only a protein sheath and genetic material; therefore, they cannot survive without a living structure. For this reason, they often crumble and dissolve on inorganic surfaces in a short time (a few hours to several days).
Antibiotics have NO EFFECTS on viruses. Viruses are very small and do not have the ability to reproduce on their own due to the lack of metabolism by themselves. They use the structures they enter, forcing them to produce new viruses. Afterward, the structure continues to multiply rapidly in the patient’s body by destroying the cells.
Having such a knowledge of the virus and observing the situation about coronavirus, it seems that we fear even from breathing. Why do we act as if we do not know that fear will not prevent death? We will surely take the necessary health and safety measures against the threat of a calamity, but we will demand the effects of precautions and assistance from Allah (CC). Instead of excessive panic, we should do our Muslim accounting, we should remember the mistakes we have made in the past, and make a rightful Nasuh repentance (Taubat Nasuha). After that, we should constitute a new road map for us. We have to pray for the Ummah. We should be the pioneers in providing permanent services for the Ummah. May our Rabb grant us the nimah of standing on the Sirat al-Mustaqim (straight path) and protect us from all kinds of calamities.
