As you know, GİMDES Board Member Mr. Zafer GEDİKLİ and GİMDES Science Board Member Mr. Mehmet Bayar attended the congress and meetings organized by JAKIM in Malaysia between September 17-19, 2024. The report sent by Mr. Zafer is as follows:
The opening of the MIHAS fair was made by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia on September 17. The fair was then visited. This year, the fair was organized in a new fair area called MITEC. Although fairs are normally held on a single floor, stands were set up in halls on 3 different floors.
On the other hand, they will organize the MIHAS fair in Dubai for the first time this year on November 18-20.
Following the fair tour, some mosques and the Quran printing house in Kuala Lumpur were visited.
JAKIM’s annual congress and conference were held on September 18 and 19. The Malaysian state first started working on Halal in 1974. Therefore, the 50th anniversary celebrations (Golden Jubilee) were held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Halal activities. This was the main theme of the congress.
Malaysia’s activities in the field of Halal in the last 50 years and its future projection were explained. It was stated that Halal should be spread to every area of life other than food on the path taken for the provision of Halal food and beverages, and that studies are now being carried out in many new areas such as Halal services (restaurants, hotels, etc.) and medicine, medicine, medical devices, vaccines, media, artificial intelligence. It was also said that courses, diploma programs, undergraduate and graduate programs were opened in many Malaysian universities in order to train scientists and scholars who will work on the subject and the personnel needed in the sector, and that academics and employees were trained in these institutions. It was also stated that Malaysian Halal standards were expanded; they were updated in accordance with new technologies over time and were referenced by many institutions and countries.
In short, it was said that thanks to the state policy that Malaysia has been pursuing for a long time, the country has created a large and exemplary capacity in Halal and is a candidate to be a leader in the world in Halal.
Mr. Mehmet Bayar also attended the training program organized by JAKIM.
At the end of the program, we received JAKIM’s letter of recognition of GIMDES by hand. Accordingly, JAKIM will continue to recognize GIMDES until September 2027.
JAKIM stated that it is necessary and essential for Halal certification institutions that it knows to participate in such meetings that it will organize. For this reason, I believe that it will be beneficial for us to participate in future activities as GIMDES. Similarly, it will be very beneficial to attend similar invitations from state institutions such as BPJPH and MUIS and to show that GIMDES continues to provide services.
