“Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Quran˺ down on the Night of Glory. And what will make you realize what the Night of Glory is?The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months. That night the angels and the ˹holy˺ spirit1 descend, by the permission of their Lord, for every ˹decreed˺ matter. It is all peace until the break of dawn.” (Sure Al-Qadr, 1-5)
The Prophet Muhammad also emphasized the importance of the Night of Power by saying, “…There is a night in this month that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of the goodness of this night is as if he has been deprived of the goodness of a thousand months.” (Nesai, Siyam, 5.)
Sayyidah ‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها) asked the Prophet: “-O Messenger of Allah! If I know which night the Night of Power is, how should I pray that night?” The Pride of the Universe said: Pray like x!”
“O Allah! You are the most forgiving, you love to forgive. Forgive me!” (Tirmizî, Deavât, 84)
It is not known which night the Night of Power is. Various hadiths have been narrated from our Prophet (pbuh) on this subject, and we can select a common expression in all of them and state it as follows: the hadiths state that the longest period is 10 days. It is reported that our Prophet (pbuh) prayed the nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, encouraged his family to do the same, and devoted himself to complete worship. So if we take the last 10 days as a basis and pray every night, we will be on the right track.
As we approach the end of a month heralded with blessings, mercy and khayr, we welcome the Night of Power with all its mercy, when the Quran began to be revealed, when the first revelation and the prophetic duty were given to our Prophet (pbuh), and when it was reported that worship and prayers are more acceptable and blessed than other nights. We pray to Allah (SWT) that our Night of Power and the Eid al-Fitr, which we experience as the most blessed night in the holy month of Ramadan, will be a means of goodness, salvation from the calamities that the whole world is facing, and happiness and prosperity for the entire Islamic world.
The Night of Power is like the heart of the month of Ramadan, the sultan of eleven months, which is the season of mercy, forgiveness and purification from sins. Allah (SWT) gave it an exceptional value by revealing the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad on the Night of Power, sending the angels to the earth and making that night better than a thousand months that do not have the Night of Power.
Oh Allah, today all of humanity is suffering in the clutches of Your many calamities. Grant us the chance to understand that all of these are our sins, to regret and repent as soon as possible. And we ask You for the salvation of Muslims who are suffering, despised and oppressed all around the world. We know that You are forgiving, you love to forgive, forgive us, all of us as the Ummah for the sake of this night, forgive us… Oh Allah
