Dr. Hüseyin Kâmi BÜYÜKÖZER
As the World Islamic Ummah; The situation that our century-long lack of awareness about haram food, questionable food and halal food has brought to us, our society and the world Islamic Ummah is a situation that does not suit the members of the Islamic religion.
In the past months, a brother of mine, who is a manager in an institution, called us. “Sir, I have a friend who is a leather specialist in front of me. He claims that the leather jacket I’m wearing is made of pigskin. I was stunned. What should I do now? He asked for an answer from us.
“What will you do? You can’t give it to anyone else either. You have to take it out immediately. You are going to throw it away, but first look at the label, whether a statement has been made about the type of leather used or not, if not, you will throw it in the face of the company representative from whichever company you bought it from and hold them accountable. You will react by saying, ‘Aren’t you ashamed of selling snails in the Muslim neighborhood?’ And if the tag says ‘Made from pigskin’ and you bought it and wore it without looking at the tag, then we answered, ‘Don’t worry about it yourself.’
We do not ask this company why they use pig skin (for now) due to current secular laws. We have to ask why you didn’t write on the label that this product is made of pigskin. You cannot usurp this right of mine as a consumer. Moreover, regardless of the system, the state must protect this most fundamental right of mine. He must punish those who usurp this right.
GIMDES has been trying to warn everyone about this issue for years. As Muslims, we must always and everywhere show at least this determination to everyone:
“As Muslims, we must say, “Let the one who eats, let the one who uses it, let the one who uses it, let the one who feeds, let the seller feed, but I do not want to eat, I do not want to use. “No one has the right to make me eat or use a substance that is forbidden in my religion and harmful to my health, without my will, without my knowledge, by deceiving me.”
And let us never remain silent against those who cheat. Let’s try to protect our rights to the end. This is our most natural and fundamental right to be human. If we want our beliefs to be respected, if we want to live in accordance with our beliefs. We must be aware of this.
A Muslim who believes in Allah and avoids forbidden things cannot raise pigs, slaughter pigs, benefit from the skin, meat, hair or any part of the pig, tan them, shop for them or consume them. If he does it knowing that it is haram, he will be committing a great sin. If he does it with the belief that it is not haram, God forbid, he will have left the religion. Moreover, if he hides that the products he produces and sells are of pork origin, he will also face the punishment of Allah for deceiving and deceiving His servants. Because our Prophet (pbuh) said, “Whoever deceives us is not one of us.” How evil are the dealings of those who sell their religion for a small price for their worldly life.
As consumers, we should first question the wallet in our pocket, the belt around our waist, the leather jacket on our back and the leather trousers under us, the shoes on our feet, our leather bags and suitcases, the leather seats in our homes and offices, our teeth, shaving, clothes, paint and whitewash brushes. We must immediately give up anything that we can determine to be haram.
In our new purchases, from now on, we should question whether it is haram or not before researching the price. We must request a label on the product stating which animal it is made from. This discipline will open new horizons for us. Most importantly, Allah Almighty will be pleased with us.
Today, humanity has better understood its helplessness in the wheel of modern technology that it invented with its own hands. Because; The awakening of the Muslim Ummah regarding “Halal Food” has begun all over the world.
As Muslims, while establishing a connection between our knowledge and our behavior, we should also take into account the divine warnings of the Quran regarding “Halal Tayyib Food and Halal Tayyib Consumption”.
May Allah SWT be our lover and helper.
