Polyvinyl alcohol is a water-soluble polymer. It is prepared by hydrolysis of a polyvinyl ester (polyvinyl acetate).
Application Areas: It is used as a starting material in the preparation of other resins. It can be used as a component of elastomers used in sponge production.
These polymers are used as sizing agents that impart resistance to oils and lubricating oils on paper or textiles, as well as to increase the resistance of films to corrosion by solvents or oxygen. PVA can also be used as a component of adhesives and emulsifiers, as suspending and thickening agents. In the pharmaceutical industry, polyvinyl alcohol is used as a viscosity increasing agent and ophthalmic lubricant.
It is also non-comedogenic, so it does not cause acne. However, a patch test should be performed before applying this product to a larger area. Because polyvinyl alcohol is usually made from synthetic sources, it is considered halal and vegan.
Note: Sizing: It is a viscous liquid with adhesive properties in various and suitable chemical compositions, prepared to increase the durability of the warp threads to be used in weaving and to prevent static electricity.
