BEWARE OF IFTAR TABLES AND RAMADAN PACKAGE ADVERTISEMENTS!

Alcoholic Hotels, Restaurants and Market chains have already started to advertise iftar tables, Ramadan provision reservations and sales with fierce competition.

Dear managers of our companies that know their religion and employ them, our Foundations, Associations and NGOs that provide various Islamic services, and our public institutions, be careful about the iftar tables and Ramadan provision packages that you will give once a year to the needy, your members, your customers, your guests and your employees. Do not allow an iftar menu and provisions that are not under halal and tayyib conditions that will pollute the good deeds you do.

The basis of the humiliation that we, as the ummah, are suffering from today lies in the fact that we have become an uninformed society. Although we have to take Islamic standards as a reference in our thoughts, behaviours and actions; Ignorance and our inability and laziness in searching for correct information cause us to react unconsciously, incorrectly and outside Islamic standards to the events we encounter at every level of our daily lives.

We live a life that is enamoured with the civilization, culture and mentality of foreign cultures, especially the West, that have permeated everything in us. Instead of saving itself from the denialist and materialist swamp that it has always fallen into, the West has chosen to remain in an effort to drag all humanity into the same swamp. Western Modernity has managed to reach the places it could not reach with weapons, with the economy, and the places it could not reach with the economy, with ideas, fashion, our food, our medicines, and technology.

The most important thing that Western modernity has changed in the world we live in is the damage to our food, from its production to its packaging. Today, the dangerous point that modernity has brought to the Islamic world makes our search for a halal and tayyib life inevitable. We should do a lot of research, thinking about the halal and tayyib aspects of modernity in our lives and especially in our foods. When we think about it, we will see that the problem of halal and tayyib in foods appears as an extension of our erroneous understanding of halal and haram in our lives.

Will we prioritise our Islamic concerns or our palatal delight?

For a century, the vast majority of Muslims (including us), have become slaves of western modernity. They focused on what gave them pleasure and did not think about what came next. They even tried to defend and justify their pursuit of taste. And we, as Muslims, have internalised this modernity in our lives. As a result, producers targeted the taste and enthusiasm of the consuming society, not their Islamic concerns. Since the words haram and halal do not suit modernity, they have become erased at every stage of our lives. People were deprived of useful information because information pollution turned our memories into garbage.

Today, we clearly see the destruction of modernity even in the names of the products that fill the supermarket shelves. As a result of Western modernity, nations, systems, and production have changed, but there has been no beneficial change in the lives of individuals, especially in their inner world. A century ago, we silently accepted the arrival of modernity, which was not ours. Will we accept it with the same silence and continue on our way, even though we see its harms and effects today?

Man, the most honourable and perfect of creations, has been held responsible for many duties. Chief among these duties are our worship of Allah and our responsibilities towards our family and the people whose management we undertake. One of our most important duties that we should not forget during Ramadan is that we have to consume halal and tayyib and ensure that we consume halal and tayyib.

We should especially stay away from foods and drinks that do not suit our Ramadan tables and are considered harmful to our faith. If we have not been able to pay the necessary attention until today; For the sake of this month, let’s try to pay attention and care to whether our foods, medicines and cosmetic products are halal and tayyib, and whether they are healthy at the same time. With this understanding, let’s reconsider the markets, butchers and bakeries we shop at.

You are not helpless anymore. The 10 000 types of products for which GIMDES has given halal certification are on the market shelves and especially on the shelves of Halal World Markers, although their number is small.
