WHAT IS PEDAGOGY? WHAT SUBJECT PEDAGOGY GETS INVOLVED IN? WHO IS A PEDAGOG?

It will be useful to review, once again, this scientific subject, which has a great importance in the way of teaching, before the month of October: when the education of Dar’ul Halal starts.
The word “Pedagogy” having the origin of French, means “the science of education” according to the dictionary of Turkish Language Society. Pedagogy, as a term, is the study of analyzing children’s social, emotional and mental progress. We gathered sufficient details about pedagogy for you.
The word “Pedagog” is used for professionals in Pedagogy. Pedagogs guide institutions getting into the act of the education of parents and children, in order to let children gain their mental and ethical abilities, and get used to the environment during their development.
What is Pedagogy?
Pedagogy is the study of analyzing children’s emotional, physical and mental stabilities. The Science of Pedagogy analyzes children’s social, mental and emotional progress, and tries to find out mental health.
People who are professionals in the Science of Pedagogy are called “Pedagogs”. Pedagogy, which will have a great impact for the future, is the study of raising psychologicly healthy children for the society by studying them in their psychological behaviour.
As we all know, the education of the child starts, from the day of birth, from the family. The education of the children has a great importance in the way of state governance of the countries. For this reason, countries make huge contributions for raising of children as well as the families. Looking from the psychologic side, it might be a necessity to consult pedagogy constantly for the sake of the society.
What subject Padegogy gets involved in?
1. Education
They perform studies at schools to improve the progress of the education. During the progress, they mostly offer to alter the major mistakes done in the materials or in the subjects. Apart from this, they look for a solution for children by guiding their problems about school such as infraction of the rules, unwillingness, failing and discordance.
2. The adaptation according to the intelligence level
They look for a solution for the children in an underdeveloped intelligence or in a high intelligence, which is a rare condition.
3. The problems of learning
They perform studies to find a solution for the problems children face with at school, which prevent them to learn, such as lack of attention.
4. Family counselling
They guide the relationship between the children and the parents.
5. Good manners and education
They have responsibilities such as detracting children from bad attitude, and pointing them in the right direction.
6. Expert
On the other hand, they carry the responsibilities of making a formal report in public enterprises and the affection to the decisions taken.
Who is called a Pedagog?
Until the eighties, there used to be departments for pedagogy in universities in Turkey. It was a necessity to graduate for the ones that will work in educational instutitions. These departments were closed and replaced as Psychological Counseling and Guidance. The ones who graduate carry the title of Pedagog.
Countries take care of the Science of Pedagogy to raise psychologicly healthy people for the sake of the future of their society. For this reason, it is important for people who are responsable for raising children to take an education for pedagogy. Accordingly, there are educations for teachers in this study.
