WE SHOULD PROTECT OUR CHILDREN FROM COLAS, ENERGY DRINKS, CHIPS AND SOFT CANDIES OF MODERNITY
Most of us do not look at the ingredients of what we eat in general. Tens of additives are used in many of the fabricated products wrapped in tinsel-shaped packages that fill the market shelves. We buy many products without having knowledge about them like candies, chocolates, cakes, starches, fruit-free soda pops and so on, which are generally produced for children. Reading the label of such products does not even come to the mind of many parents. Even if they read, most of them will not understand. However, as parents, we should not buy products produced for children without investigating and reading the label carefully.
Cola and energy drinks are some of the problematic products that modernity presents us. We should keep our children away from such beverages considering the health problems that can be caused by cola and energy drinks containing high levels of caffeine, cocaine, aspartame and various colorants.
The additives that should mostly be avoided in children’s foods
According to the experts’ report, it should be decided to remove food dyes, preservatives and artificial sweeteners from production and sale that are proven to cause hyperactivity in children.
To date, we have tried to give a lot of information about chemical additives. We should also pay attention to some harmful and even dangerous additives that are continued to be used unconsciously, especially in children’s foods.
In a study conducted in the UK in the past years, children consuming additive drinks were reported to lose their concentration and lead to hyperactivity. Dame Deirdre Hutton, President of Food Safety Agency, warns the families of hyperactive children to be aware of the possible risks of consumption of colored products at the time of the research and said that the evidence in their hands shows that it is wise not to use these dyes in food.
Last year, the EU decided to evaluate British scientific research, which established an interest between the level of hyperactivity in children and the consumption of preservatives and additives in foods.
In the study, published in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet in the UK, it was determined that food preservatives and colorants increase the level of hyperactivity in children.
In a study conducted at the University of Southampton, scientists observed the behaviors of children, which a group of children was given a cocktail of preservatives and additives found in foods and another group of children given a portion of fruit juices only.
The scientific committee leading the study stated that preservatives and additives had a negative effect on the hyperactive behaviors of children between the ages of 3 and 9 and added upon it “The findings indicate that these substances may have negative effects not only on children with hyperactivity disorder but on the behaviors of all children”. Mixtures with additives and preservatives used in the research included various colorants, preservatives, and sweeteners.
Prof.Dr.Hasan Doğruyol, who is one of our advisors in the Technical Science Committee, wrote in his article “Considerations in Food Selection” that we published before; “Unfortunately,
most of the additives are harmful substances for human health. This damage often depends on the amount of substance taken. In some special cases, the presence of the substance, even in very small amounts, can be harmful. These harmful effects can be examined under the following headings.
Critical additives for human health, especially for our children, are as follows:

If we really love our children; Let us work together against this Western-based nutrition system, which is characterized by hyperactivity in children, lack of concentration, and especially learning to read and we must save ourselves and our children from these threats by consuming Halal and Tayyib products that are necessary for a halal and tayyib life.
