This is a very important and crucial question for a Muslim.
Firstly, the certification body that makes Halal certification should be totally indepenent institution composed of Muslim members who believe in Islam and apply what they believe to their live.
Additionally, the Halal Certificate should give the consumer the consciousness dof being a guarantor of the products during the validity of the certificate.
Nowadays there are hundreds of Halal certification bodies. Most of those certifiers haven’t this basic principles, as if the abusing by non-Muslims were not enough for a hundred years, some Muslims try to deceive their Muslim brothers by fake Halal certificates for the sake of their own simple benefits.
In 2005, even the Halal certificate name was not known in Turkey, GIMDES starts its volunteer Works, and then starts Halal certification in 2008 and established a very strong Halal certification system. Today, conscious Muslims came to understand that companies should get a certificate from GIMDES and companies took certificates from GIMDES in order to be able to accept their products to Muslims. Now the products beard GIMDES halal and Tayyib logo came to be searched by Muslims.
In a real sense, a Halal Certification Body should serve with a totally independent, and away from any doubtful works. It should establish its standards with the decisions of independent technical and Fiqh committees which are well qualified.
